1965 Christian Worker Week

Frank sent this photo today with the comment, "In 1965 the camp had a Christian Workers Week. The idea was to help the church develop leaders. This finally morphed into Family Week. This photograph is interesting because Dan and Mary Diamond are in it. They were faithful members at Worburn Church and strong backers of the camp." Danny Diamond (who is now Dan) checked in on this site recently and this came from Frank tonight with his comment so we decided to post right away. Bob Kelly is standing. Leroy Schmidt is in the white shirt with his back to us. See comment from his niece.

How to find your pic and others

We have labeled the pictures, using the last names of as many people in the picture as we could. This site only allows 20 per post, so in the large group pictures we can't include everyone.

You can search, then, by either name or year. The names of the pictures usually include a year. Check the titles in the archives.

If you see a last name you want to follow up in the section at the end of a post, click on it and all the posts with that name will show up. If you click Jordan, for example, you will get pics of JW, Carla and Art. If Heston, you'll get Mike, Sandi, Pat and John. If Diamond you'll get the Dan Diamond who was on the original board and the Danny Diamond who was a camper. You get the idea.

Over 200 visits to this site yesterday, and over 1,000 since we started posting the end of January. Keep checking back and keep spreading the word. Frank sends new pictures almost every day!

Has Bond Camp made a difference in your life?

As Frank Bush has been forward picture after picture from his files, we have been struggling to name everyone. Recently he commented, "One of the things that has hit me as I have been working on these pictures – we really had contact with a lot of young people. That got me considering . . . How much positive influence did we really have in their lives?"

From Cliff Butler's dream of a camp out in that wooded wilderness in the early 1950s to the current day, many hundreds, probably thousands, of kids have gone through the camp. If you are one of them, tell us what influence it really had in YOUR life. Click on the "comment" to leave a note there or use the guest book. Let the faculty and board, past and present, want to know what you think.

And if you were baptized at camp and have a memory about that we would like to hear it as well.
