Let us hear from you...

It has been awhile since we have posted here. Although there are visitors most every day, new pics have not been forthcoming. So here is one of us at Paula's daughter's wedding -- to keep things going

If you have camp photos and you don't have them in digital format, please share anyway! We will scan and post them. Leave a comment on the guest book or contact us by email. The predominance of photos are Frank Bush's but your snapshots and memories are welcome here as well. Hope you will share.

Note from Leroy Thompson

It is fun to keep finding people we knew from camp. Here are some thoughts Leroy emailed recently:

I've beem looking at your pics from the old days at Bond. It has sent me into a whirlwind of reminiscing. Think for just a moment of the people in that group of friends from Bond that week: You, very effective Christian leaders; Pat H. a great local minister in his own right; Rick W, a prof and dean; and myself, a prof of ministry and chaplain. Think about this....a poor Little camp in the hills of Southern IL, a nowhere place really, in single typical week of camp that nobody noticed or remembered--just another week. Add to that Christian teenagers struggling to find themselves and their direction in life but committed to serving their Lord. Out of that seemingly unimportant event came Christian leaders. Pretty amazing, really. Who knows what God is doing even now?! Please excuse the reminiscences of a sentimental aging guy but I think it is also true.

Campfire, before the lake

Before the lake, campfire was in the valley that became the manmade lake. Here is a picture of the "valley" before the lake was there. It is also the place where we had campfire from 1954 thru 1957. Here is the only campfire picture that Frank could find that was taken during that period. This seems to be a Jr. High or perhaps even a Junior week. He recognized only a couple of people. Judy Paine on the left and the Hendrix boy on the right.

Well, friends, this project began over a year and more than 500 posts and thousands of photos ago. We have now exhausted the photos in Frank Bush's library. It is time for everyone else to step up and provide anything you have to share with the group.
It has been fun for Frank, Deb, and Paula to put this forward and the memories have been wonderful, as have the renewed friendships that emerged. Bond Christian Service Camp certainly has been a factor in the lives of many of us, and the influence was and is immense. We will be forever grateful for the marvelous teaching and growing that happened there.
