Girls Dorm

To follow from the last post, does anyone have an interesting tale to tell regarding dorm life? It would be great for the rest of us to hear from you.
Friends? Critters? Beds? Gum? Facilities? Anything else?

Remember..... the "good old days" of walking to the outhouse, and cold showers with water piped in from the lake? How fabulous we thought it was when we got INDOOR PLUMBING and hot showers!!! We had saggy old wires strung to hang clothes on, they now have real closet rods!! and shelves!...We brought orange crates from home and nailed them to the wall by our bunk!! The dorm looks like a 4-star hotel in comparison to what we had!!! All in all I'm glad I went to camp in the old days. I think one big room full of girls was probably more fun than seperate wings.

Remember.....Linda Smith finding a dead black snake and the girls putting it in the bed of the poor Alice Schroeder Baynes and putting Janet Ewald's pajamas in the freezer and presenting them to her at supper, frozen stiff? (Think Janet got the better end of that trick, than did poor Alice. I am sure God has forgiven us for that, hope Alice has, too!)

Remember...writing guys names with black shoe polish on the wooden beams above our beds.

Evidently, the guys got in a lot of trouble for eating snacks in the dorm. They would sit so they could lean outside the back screen door and munch goodies. Technically they weren't "eating" in the dorm. We girls, however, were quite brazen about snacks and just sat in our beds to eat them. Nobody ever gave us any grief about it!
