Wilson Wiseman, an elder at Greenville and father to Fred and Kay, was a photographer. At some point he gave the negatives for these photos to Frank Bush, probably to keep them with other camp photographs.

Trips to prisons

Frank Bush recalls, "I don't remember when the "Trip to prison" was taken. We took a Life Recruit week to visit Vandalia Prison– which is what I thought of when I saw Seth Wilson in this shot. What troubles me is that all the kids are from Greenville. We took the Greenville kids to Manard Prison. If this is that group, why is Seth with us? Mystery." I remember taking a later trip to Manard, Life Recruit week when I was 14. So that would have been 1966. This is of course much earlier.

1964 Junior girls? Probably a little earlier...

Cheryl Lamb is dark-haired girl on far side of first table that is in process of eating and the cute kid to her right (photo left) is Lynne Gurley ... who knew her hair was ever that short! 4th person down from Cheryl is Dolly Black, faculty/helper that week. Diagonal from Cheryl, on opposite side of table, girl with white head band and dress is Mary Motzer. At second table Ruth Schrumpf is seen sitting with kids. Cheryl would have been a Junior in maybe 1959 through 1961, so this is a little earlier than we thought.

1958 Christian Workers week

Deb and I are baffled about this one -- seems like lots of families, so maybe an early Christian Worker's week? I dated this because my Mom is holding a very young Karen Bush and I know when she was born. Remember you can double click on the photo to look at a bigger version.

Help us with the others? Frank Bush says: In that large Family week (or Christian Workers) you will find Luke Perrine; Alice and Daryl Terry, and Bill Stark to name a few. Another reader indicated: behind Mike Bush, older kid with ears sticking out is John Griffin of Collinsville. Boy left of Mike Heston is Ronnie Lamb and on Ronnie's left is Harold "Doc" Williams holding his daughter Julia Beth. All from Greenville. Still another: Is that Bill Griffin on the back row left, beside tall man with hat? And his wife Harriet is standing behind John Griffin.(to the left and behind of Mike and Paula) The little girl in front of Harriet is her daughter. I don't remember the little girls real name, but everyone always called her "Pete".

The dining hall has certainly improved since those days!
