High School Week Group Photo, 1962

This is one of the more difficult to identify -- lots of shadows, not quite as good resolution. Mike Bush is between 1:6 and 1:7. Stu Couve is wearing a hat so he's easy on the back row. Might be Kay Wiseman, then Sandi Heston and George McCarthy to the right of the tallest guy in the back (Daryl Bishop). Joe Fehr is between the two pointy hats in the back. The two pointy hats.?.one may be Janet Cothern. One year she wore a hat like that to camp. But can't see her face. Right of the hat girls is John Griffin, then Joe Webb. Right of Stu Couve is Charlie Burns. Dan Williams two left of him. Bill Vandervoort and Gene Talbot about 5 left of Dan. What's with those pointy hats?

Row 1 1:6 Susie Pope, 1:17 Larry Iberg, 1:19 Janet Van Horn, 1:22 Linda Reavis
Row 2 2:1 Susan Rasler, 2:2 Carla Clover,2:5 Mike Jackson, Belleville 2:10 one of the Steele twins. 2:14 Melissa Sefton, 2:15 Dolly Black, 2:16 the other Steele twin, 2:17 Susan Beard, 2:22 Ronnie Volkmar, 2:26 David Talbot just peeking through 2:27 Jeanne Talbot Row 3 3:1 is Karen Morrow, 3:6 Sue Burris, 3:8 Kay Fries, 3:14 Janie Bea Johnson, 3:15 Paula Bush, 3:17 Becky Huck, 3:20 Janie Bea Johnson, 3:20 Ruth Blankenship, 3:22 Jane Day, 3:27 Robbie Schreiber.

Luke Perrine teaching. Frony row, yellow shirt is Wayne Black, red sweatshirt on end of row is George McCarty. 3rd row boy with glasses is Dan Clymer. Boy and Girl on right of that row are Gayle Wakefield and Terry O'Dell.

Wayne Black in yellow, George McCarty in red on right end. Dan Clymer in center with glasses. Dark headed boy way in the back is Tim Callison.
It is possible these are shots of a Life Recruit Week. These came from colored negatives that have had some rough treatment. I guess I should be surprised that all these negatives have survived, not only the years, but three moves. - Frank Bush It isn't that color wasn't available, but Frank took most shots in black and white so they could be used in publicity materials, and so it was easier to develop in the basement darkroom at the parsonage in Greenville.

1964 Junior girls? Probably a little earlier...

Cheryl Lamb is dark-haired girl on far side of first table that is in process of eating and the cute kid to her right (photo left) is Lynne Gurley ... who knew her hair was ever that short! 4th person down from Cheryl is Dolly Black, faculty/helper that week. Diagonal from Cheryl, on opposite side of table, girl with white head band and dress is Mary Motzer. At second table Ruth Schrumpf is seen sitting with kids. Cheryl would have been a Junior in maybe 1959 through 1961, so this is a little earlier than we thought.

Junior boys week 1962

Double click on the picture to make it bigger. We had great fun with this one. Best guesses, so correct us if we are wrong. Row 1: 1 Dave Jackson from Belleville in the first spot. 1:17 Kevin Hayhurst 1:20 Rick Walston 2:8 Scott Cain 2:21 James Kelly 3:17 Gary Thornburg 3:18 John Heston 4:3 John Beck 4:4 Evan Mac Lockwood. I know a lot of the other faces but just can't put a name on them. Faculty row (kindof two rows but in order as one) 1. Merv Moberley 4. George McCarty 5. Bill Price 6. Bob Hayhurst 8. Jack Durbin 9. Bob Kelly 10. Stu Couve (sp). 12. Joe Feher 14. Woody Fisher 15. Charlie Burns 16. Wayne Black 19. Anita Steele 21. Sandy Steele 22. Lynn McFarland. Floyd Jordan, Charles Wogman, Bill Price and Gilbert & Betty Schreiber are also in faculty row.

"In step" from Frank circa 1962

"I'm enclosing a shot I made for promotion. These seven kids are "all in step." Wouldn't it be interesting to have the same seven line up for a "then" and "now" shot? This was taken in 1962. Most of these color ones are from slides. A real "treasure cove" of pictures would be those slide shows that Bob Kinney used to take around to churches . . . before we started taking movies. I wonder if they are still around and who has them." - Frank Bush
If anyone has the answer -- we know how to turn them into posts here.
The seven kids are 1) ? 2) Bob Cargill (?) 3)Dolly Black 4) Danny Diamond (?) 5) Kay Wiseman 6) Woody Fisher 7) June Huck

Early 1960s

Kay Wiseman from Greenville -- not sure about the Ramsey rep, Dolly Black and Mellisa Sefton from Brownstown. Comment from Sandi Heston Rinderer: "The girl from Ramsey is my dear friend, Janet COTHERN Eckhardt. Jan and I worked together (along with my brother Mike and Dan Williams) on the '99 BCSC Reunion for campers who attended 1960 -1964. Jan now lives in Altamont, IL."

Bell tower and faculty, early '60's

Here are some early faculty at the bell tower in the '60s -- Bob Kelley, Max Whited, Danny Williams.
An email from Mike Heston has brought an interesting story around this picture....

The picture of Bob Kelly, Max Whited, and Dan Williams (who has on a sleeveless T-shirt) standing in front of the bell tower, has a story behind it. On several occasions when he visited the Arm Prairie Church (“Chickenfoot”), Dolly Black’s home church, Danny had noticed that Dolly’s brother, Denny, was always wearing a sleeveless T-shirt. He was, as some of you know, somewhat of a body-builder. Danny and I decided to buy a week’s supply of these T-shirts and wear them every day of Life Recruit Week that year as a way of infuriating Dolly. As I recall, it worked.
