1958 Christian Workers week

Let's use the same numbering for row:person and see who we recognize. 1:3 Pop Smith 1:4 Dr. Williams and daughter from Greenville 1:6 Mike Heston (the row is not straight so numbering of those folks in front is tricky here) 1:19 with head down is Mike Bush, 1:20 an unhappy Paula Bush, 2:7 Mary Kinney Boatman 2:12 Marilyn Bush holding baby Karen 3:8 Bob Kinney (back row also jumbled together) 3:22 or so the tall dark guy is Dick Thayer. Help us with the others? Frank Bush says: In that large Family week (or Christian Workers) you will find Luke Perrine; Alice and Daryl Terry, and Bill Stark to name a few. Another reader indicated: behind Mike Bush, older kid with ears sticking out is John Griffin of Collinsville. Boy left of Mike Heston is Ronnie Lamb and on Ronnie's left is Harold "Doc" Williams holding his daughter Julia Beth. All from Greenville. Still another: Is that Bill Griffin on the back row left, beside tall man with hat? And his wife Harriet is standing behind John Griffin.(to the left and behind of Mike and Paula) The little girl in front of Harriet is her daughter. I don't remember the little girls real name, but everyone always called her "Pete".
The dining hall has certainly improved since those days!
Spreading the word...telling your stories
If you have looked at the map on this site you can see that word is getting out slowly to our camp friends across the country and the world. Keep checking in -- we have a lot more pictures that we are posting. And keep telling everyone you can remember from camp about the site so we can connect with as many alumni as possible.
We also hope you will tell your own camp stories. There are three ways to do this. You can comment on any post and tell us your own memories there. You can sign the guestbook and tell your story there. Or you can email us with pictures and stories at bondcamp54@gmail.com and we will post them for you. Tell us about yourself now, too -- what you are doing, where you are living, how to contact you -- if you are willing. For many of you, camp was as much a part of your decisions related to your career as was college. It has been so fun to look for people, and find Dr. Rick Walston teaching in a Christian college and John Beck continuing his long service in Christian radio, for example. (Rick and John, tell you own stories when you get a chance.) Many of our fellow campers have moved to other parts of the country, and while not all have chosen Christian service or even to continue in a Christian church, everyone I've talked to has something to say about how those camp years shaped their lives.
So jump in and talk to us. Your old friends are waiting to hear about you.

Junior boys week 1962

Double click on the picture to make it bigger. We had great fun with this one. Best guesses, so correct us if we are wrong. Row 1: 1 Dave Jackson from Belleville in the first spot. 1:17 Kevin Hayhurst 1:20 Rick Walston 2:8 Scott Cain 2:21 James Kelly 3:17 Gary Thornburg 3:18 John Heston 4:3 John Beck 4:4 Evan Mac Lockwood. I know a lot of the other faces but just can't put a name on them. Faculty row (kindof two rows but in order as one) 1. Merv Moberley 4. George McCarty 5. Bill Price 6. Bob Hayhurst 8. Jack Durbin 9. Bob Kelly 10. Stu Couve (sp). 12. Joe Feher 14. Woody Fisher 15. Charlie Burns 16. Wayne Black 19. Anita Steele 21. Sandy Steele 22. Lynn McFarland. Floyd Jordan, Charles Wogman, Bill Price and Gilbert & Betty Schreiber are also in faculty row.
"In step" from Frank circa 1962

"I'm enclosing a shot I made for promotion. These seven kids are "all in step." Wouldn't it be interesting to have the same seven line up for a "then" and "now" shot? This was taken in 1962. Most of these color ones are from slides. A real "treasure cove" of pictures would be those slide shows that Bob Kinney used to take around to churches . . . before we started taking movies. I wonder if they are still around and who has them." - Frank Bush
If anyone has the answer -- we know how to turn them into posts here.
The seven kids are 1) ? 2) Bob Cargill (?) 3)Dolly Black 4) Danny Diamond (?) 5) Kay Wiseman 6) Woody Fisher 7) June Huck
High school in late 1960s

Maybe a Junior Boy's week? Circa 1962?

1959 campers

Ron Holzhauer is the jumper. Charlie Greer is at left. Any other I.D.s? Sandy Heston Rinderer indicated, "In the pix with Ron Holzhauer jumping.....boy on the right holding the volleyball is Mike Burris. I think the dark-haired girl in background to Ron's left is Charlotte Schroeder. Blond girl sitting on ground is Sandy Schrumpf from Greenville. "
Another fun pic from 1959

Help us identify these campers? See comment -- Guy to the left of key person is identified as Dan Diamond. According to Sandi Heston Rinderer, the girl with the ribbons on her head is Kay Fries from Wood River. And the guy with his back to us on the right -- is that a Holzhauer maybe?

1959 campers again - color this time

Sandi Rinderer issues some help ...Mike (Heston)is on the right end in the back row. In the middle you can see a partially obscured guy, that is Norman Ray, I'd recognize that flat-top anywhere! Both of them of course, from Greenville. The girl in the front, blond with glasses is Madyline Franklin. She was from Bethalto. The boy on the right end,of front row, is Don Neer from Greenville. June Huck is second from left.

I'm just guessing at the year -- I am in the front second from right as a faculty kid, and I only had long hair in 3rd grade so this is approximate. Double click for a closer look. In addition to the two in the next pic below I recognize Sandi Heston, Dolly Black, Kay Wiseman. Pop Smith. - Paula
